Serving Instructions
Your
Ham it Up Ham
is fully cooked and does not need to be heated prior to serving.
Because
there is no added water, over heating the ham can cause it to become dry.
However,
if you feel you need to warm it, please follow these
instructions.
Oven:
Preheat oven to 200-250 F. Place ham on rack in roasting pan, remove the
dry-lock
pad and cover with foil making a foil tent over your ham. You may
fill the bottom of the roasting pan with ½” of water to help retain
moisture. Roast until internal temperature is 120F. Using a meat
thermometer will insure the best results since hams vary in weight and
ovens will vary in temperature. However, it generally takes 7-8 minutes
per pound to reach the desired temperature.
Microwave:
You can also warm your ham
in the microwave, uncovered for 1 minute per pound
to heat the glaze and give a spiral effect for display.
Your
Ham it Up Ham
is guaranteed for 6 days after you purchase due to our low sodium and
nitrate count. You can extent freshness by not leaving your ham outside
of refrigeration for extended lengths of time. Although fully smoked, hams
can stay out of refrigeration longer than other meats. If you leave your
ham out for hours at a party, you will cut down the number of days the ham
will stay fresh. You will know if your ham has spoiled if it spells of a
strong vinegar odor.
To Freeze,
wrap tightly in aluminum foil and place in an airtight plastic bag. The
ham can be frozen for up to 45 days without losing its flavor. Freezing
could turn your honey glaze white, but reheating would revitalize that
Ham it Up
glaze.
